In 2019, Wheaton elected to take a fresh look at our broker relationship. Premiums had been increasing, and we were assuming greater risk with the large retention limits.
Many years earlier, Wheaton had explored working with EIIA, but we did not satisfy their Membership criteria as an institution not affiliated with a particular religious denomination. When we learned that they had expanded their eligibility to include private faith-inspired institutions, we included them in our broker RFP process.
When the EIIA team came to present their already impressive proposal, they far exceeded our expectations – they were extremely knowledgeable and clearly understood our insurance needs and business practices.
We secured broader coverage tailored to small private higher education institutions like ours with lower deductibles and at competitive premiums. We also appreciated the many additional benefits of membership, including access to the Campus Conduct Hotline ethics reporting system, employee training modules, and policy templates developed by legal counsel. These additional resources only add to our significant savings and benefits of working with EIIA.
We are happy to be a part of a strong consortium with institutions of similar size and risk profiles. EIIA is a hidden gem.
